James was granted access to Ebert as the film critic was hospitalized for long durations due to his deteriorating health. That's 'Life Itself.' It is an accessible, conventional nonfiction film, and yet at the same time it is wily and inventive, dodging and weaving to make easy labeling impossible, inspiring and engaging you, bending and breaking rules, inventing and reinventing itself as it goes along, much like Roger did.
